Tips #0: Learn from startup failures

Unknown     10/13/2015     experience, idea, startup, team     No comments

You have your own idea, that make easier life thousands of people? You have a friends who are infected with your entuthiasm and they have great motivation? You've read my first steps in startup and want to know more? You know the answers on first three common questions when launching startup from here? Great, the following information will help you to avoid other common mistakes.
From the developer point of view I can tell you with a great confidence that having only developers in your team is not great idea. First my team included one person who created software and one person who created hardware. No one promote us, no one knew about our product and no one couldn't buy it. It is more like you implementing your idea on Mars for only your purposes.

But you should know that from the very beginning of you startup you should speak with people through forums, conferences, web-sites, videos and other information channels. You have allways receive feedback on your idea and it's implementation. You think someone can steal your idea? Yes, you are right. Someone can. But it is not easy way to go from idea to real products, not anyone can handle this. Also you can share with people only the main principles of your future product but keep all details only inside your team.
Now your team have one member who will promote your future product. Or you can just separate team duties and do it all together. But always remember - you should search your future clients from the very beginning, because you can on early stages know how many people may be interested in your product.
Also I have some words about team. You should choose one person who will be the head of group. Only one person should be the face of your product. You need to be ready say goodbye to some members that can't perform their functions well. You should be focused only on results, fast growing, improvements. If your team have a leader and everyone do their best on product developing I can congradulate you. Not so much teams made it.
Now, I'm sure you have a great team and idea that is very interesting for many people. You can start developing you project. Use time limitations. You can approximately estimate time of project development. Be strict to team plan. Create MVP  as soon as possible. But have a look on the next image:

Try to make evey possible MVP really in working conditions. Make something that people can use in a way you wanted.
So for now you become more smart and you can make smarter decisions. You can make every step on your own and not listen to this information. I only share with you information based on my experience. You can ask some mentor from Silicon Valley and he can confirm you that team is the first thing they are looking for. Yes, the idea is also valuable, but as startup history says all ideas were modified during product development. Based on my experience no one run his startup with the same idea at the beginning and at the end. You should know that and be flexible to any changes.
I wish you good luck in implementing your ideas in real life. I wish your dreams come true. Sometimes visit everycoder blog and find something interesting for you. I have a lot of information to share.
